Batteries and Peak Demand Reduction
Battery storage solutions can have a dramatic effect on peak demand spikes.
Solar power coupled with well designed battery storage systems will see more commercial battery solutions come to market, major energy providers have structured accounts that penalize a facility for exceeding their nominated peak demand amount, in some cases this peak demand charge is 70% of the energy costs. The integration of PV and a battery banks can control these peaks and energy spikes by supplying reactive power and battery power reducing the peak energy that is taken from the grid. Alternatively the site can be totally independent of the network and run purely on Solar Energy and battery storage.
